A friend gave me this book to read a while ago now, and I should have written about it sooner. I loved it! It’s a new book for children (7-12 sort of age range, but up to adult, clearly!) by scientist Richard Vincent, and is the story of Joe and his sister Beth, transported back in time to help prevent the destruction caused by the marble curse. You need to read the book to find out more! But it’s a wonderful story that plays science and reason alongside the arts and the imagination, showing how both are necessary to overcome the curse. It’s a cracking story.
And now its author Richard Vincent is coming to Kenilworth! There will be two opportunities to meet him, hear more about the book, see some sneaky science, do some craft activities related to the story.
On Saturday 18th September Richard will be at Kenilworth Books from 1-2.30pm.
On Sunday 19th September, he will be at the Tree House from 11am-12 noon.
These will be two different sessions – both are free, and both will be fun! They are aimed at children of 7ish or above, though younger siblings are very welcome at the Tree House session if that makes it easier for parents – we can offer a table for colouring or looking at books while the older ones are doing crafts with Richard.
Look out for the posters, and I will be promoting the events on social media.
You can book with Steve Russ via firstname.lastname@example.org – we have to limit it to 20 participants, so do get in touch with Steve to book a place if you would like to come. We will let people in on the door if there is still space, but not if the 20 places are already booked.
